Teaching Philanthropy at the Luxembourg School of Finance - 24.11.2016

Fondation de Luxembourg’s Director General Tonika Hirdman provided for the forth time a two-day course to the international students of the Master in Wealth Management.

 

The Master program in Wealth Management established by the Luxembourg School of Finance in 2013 aims at developing knowledge and know-how on various topics related to finance and wealth management, including the philanthropic sector.

 

During the course given by Fondation de Luxembourg, more than thirty students from all over the world discussed the current trends and philanthropic practices in Europe and in the US, including the specifics of venture philanthropy. Topics covered included amongst other the expectations of modern philanthropists and how to meet these demands as part of a wealth management proposition, as well as as legal and tax aspects to take into consideration for wealth managers when advising their clients in terms of their cross-boarder philanthropic strategies and structuring.

 

Two guest lecturers completed the course:

 

- Mr. David WAROQUIER from The Mangrove Foundation under the aegis of Fondation de Luxembourg

 

- Mrs. Laura FOSCHI from ADA Microfinance
