Supporting scientific research at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Turku in Finland

emmy.network foundation - CLOSED, Maire and Carl Gustaf Ehrnrooth Foundation

The project aim is to support the study of complex systems theory and its applications.

Complex systems research examines the emergent properties of large systems from the perspective of networks of interacting parts or subsystems. The analysis of complex systems focuses on developing novel descriptive frameworks and studying their various structural components.

The intention is to develop an international multidisciplinary ecosystem addressing the mission to find order in chaos, to better understand who we are, and how to address the collective challenges we face.

From an academic perspective, the outcomes of these research programs include the development of a theoretical framework, mathematical innovation, and knowledge transfer. From a societal perspective: proofs-of-concept and prototyping, data harvesting and analysis, and technology demonstrations.
