These scholarships support research projects and studies relating to European integration, monetary issues, democracy or human rights in any country on the European continent.

For 2026, the Management Committee of the Fondation Pierre Werner decided to award the Pierre Werner Scholarships to three candidates, based on the recommendations of the University of Luxembourg’s pre-selection committee.

The 2026 laureates are:

• Tanja Hilpold, for her research on “The Court of Justice – between Supreme Court and Constitutional Court”
• Milena Mitrović, for her research on “Administrative Enforcement of European Sustainability Reporting Standards”

• Enrico Sartori, for his research on “Effectiveness of Administrative Sanctions in European Securities Law and Compensation of Investors’ Losses”

   

The scholarships were presented on October 2nd, 2026, during a ceremony at the University of Luxembourg’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, in the presence of Luc Frieden, Prime Minister of Luxembourg and President of the Fondation Pierre Werner, members of the Werner family and former laureates. The gathering also marked the tenth anniversary of the Pierre Werner Scholarships.
