In Germany, educational success depends heavily on social background. Young people from educationally disadvantaged families and with a history of flight or migration are particularly disadvantaged. In response to this need, German-based organisation Rock Your Life! seeks to promote educational equity and equal opportunities, has already reached over 28,000 students since 2008.

The programme pairs young people aged 14-18, who either hail from educationally disadvantaged families or with a refugee/migration background, with regular one-to-one support from a mentor for at least one year. An independent impact assessment has proven that Rock your Life! has helped improve mentees' school grades and personal development, as well as level out labour market disadvantages. In Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate, the programme will reach approximately 260 youth in need of support.
